an ibc accelerator project

Confronting the Media & Entertainment industry's critical challenge:

The Environmental Impact of Streaming

Project goal

To build, measure and educate

The project aims to establish standardised methods for measuring streaming's energy consumption, identify energy-saving opportunities throughout the technology supply chain, and provide actionable blueprints for sustainability.

Summary

The topic of Energy Efficiency in Streaming is a thorny one to unpick, with lots of opinions, weak data and supplier challenges preventing those involved from really building a clear understanding of the as-is, let alone being able to predict the impact of changing any of the parameters.

The ECOFLOW projects, part of the IBC Accelerator series, are aiming to dispel common published myths, create a little more certainty and information about the energy use of key components in the streaming value chain, and understand how they react given different conditions.
Coupled with that is the goal to share information more broadly, and use the platform of the IBC show to encourage a broader conversation.
